We ask that you please review this Accessibility Statement, and we welcome your feedback on how we can improve accessibility for everyone.

Web Accessibility

We strive to design and develop the tech night! website (https://technight.events) in accordance with generally recognized guidelines for accessibility, such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. Our goal is to meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards to ensure that users who rely on assistive technologies (like screen readers or keyboard-only navigation) can effectively use our site. This includes considerations like providing text alternatives for non-text content (so images have descriptive alt text), ensuring sufficient color contrast, making our interactive elements operable via keyboard, and writing clear content.

However, we acknowledge that accessibility is an ongoing effort. Our site is relatively new and is continuously evolving. There may be some areas of the website that could be improved. We are actively working on identifying and resolving any accessibility issues that are discovered.

Event Accessibility

For our in-person meetups and events, we aim to choose venues that are physically accessible (such as those with ramps or elevators, accessible restrooms, etc.) whenever possible. We also strive to accommodate any special requirements of our attendees. If you plan to attend an event and have specific accessibility needs (e.g., sign language interpretation, reserved seating, etc.), please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate. We appreciate your advance notice, as it helps us prepare and ensure everyone can participate fully.

Feedback

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our website and events. If you encounter any barriers while using our site, or have suggestions on how we can improve accessibility, please contact us or email us at hey@technight.events. When you contact us, please provide as much detail as possible about the issue you faced (including what page or feature it was, and what assistive technology you were using, if any). We will take your feedback seriously and work to address the issue.

Accessibility Features

Some features we have implemented to improve accessibility include:

  • Proper HTML structure and headings to ensure content is well-organized and readable by screen readers.
  • Text alternatives (alt text) for images and icons on the site, so users who cannot see images can still understand the content.
  • Sufficient color contrast between text and background to aid users with low vision or color blindness.
  • Keyboard navigability for interactive components, ensuring that all functionality is available via keyboard for those who cannot use a mouse.
  • Descriptive link text and labels on forms to make navigation and forms easier to understand.

As we grow, we plan to conduct periodic accessibility audits and possibly engage accessibility experts to review our site. Accessibility is not a one-time project, but an ongoing commitment. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to improve.

In summary, tech night! is dedicated to accessibility and inclusion. We recognize that this is a continual effort and that we may not be perfect. But we are committed to learning and improving. Thank you for supporting our community, and please don't hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or suggestions regarding accessibility. We appreciate your feedback and your help in making our community accessible to everyone.
